Our story began in 1897 when Charles C. Flemming founded Charlie's Transfer, a small moving company in Birmingham, Alabama. As the city grew, so did our company. In the 1920s, Charlie's son, James Benjamin, took the reins, and Flemming Transfer was born. Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, Elizabeth Cahalan, James's wife, and their children kept the business thriving. After WWII, Wheeler Flemming, Charles's grandson, helped propel the business into a new era of growth. Today, we are proud to be a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated moving and storage company.
