The story of Barnes Moving & Storage starts with Charlie Barnes, who in the 1930s recognized a need for reliable moving services in the Stonington area. With a keen understanding of local needs, he obtained his hauling authority license and established the company in Mystic, Connecticut.

Over the years, the business evolved under the leadership of Robert and Frederick Barnes, who moved the company to its present location on Route 184 in 1974. Their son, Jeffrey, joined the team in 1968 and continued to uphold the family tradition of excellence.

In 1999, Dean DePietro, a seasoned industry professional, acquired Barnes Moving & Storage. With a vision to expand services and enhance customer experiences, he joined forces with Bekins Van Lines in 2003.
